Grey & Ivy offers a variety of package service offers ranging from our base-level community consultation and engagement, to long-term community visioning and partnerships. Together, we can explore and determine which pathway works best for you!
Community Consultation
Estimated duration:
Varied (2 weeks - 2+ months)
The Goal:
Meet and build relationship with the community (Youth Group, Students, Local Organizations, First Nations Community, etc.).
What’s involved:
Identify the community’s ‘story’ that reveals their needs.
Define an implementation strategy that responds to the needs of the community.
Establish a feasibility study based on implementation strategy.
Collaboration with Grounded Architecture.
Deliverable Outcomes:
A Needs Assessment Report is developed for that specific community to facilitate Spatial Agency.
The Needs Assessment Report will:
Build relationship and trust in the community to work together.
Evaluates the 4 pillars of sustainability in community.
Provide a clear understanding of gaps in the community (existing housing stock, access to local materials, maintenance, water, soil conditions, local governing systems a resources. etc).
May or may not include a pilot project.

Full delivery of Community Consultation package including the development of Needs Assessment Report.
2. Grey & Ivy Workshop:

Workshop Type 1:

1-2 weeks
The Goal:
Introduce and guide through basic processes of design-build and identify related career pathways.
What’s involved:
Workshop will offer a smaller and simplified version of our design-build curriculum (based on community needs).
Deliverable Outcomes:
Basic understanding of design-build process.
Digital or physical model results.
Workshop Type 2:
Estimated duration:
3-4 weeks
The Goal:
Introduce and guide through advanced processes of design-build and discuss related career pathways.
What’s involved:
Workshop will offer full version of our design-build curriculum
Deliverable Outcomes:
Advanced understanding of design-build process.
Digital and/or physical model results.
Completed set of drawings w/ preliminary research
Workshop Type 3:
Estimated duration:
2 month+
The Goal:
Introduce and guide through advanced processes of design-build and discuss related career pathways.
What’s involved:
Workshop will offer full version of our design-build curriculum
Deliverable Outcomes:
Advanced understanding of design-build process.
Digital and/or physical model results.
Completed set of drawings w/ preliminary research
Constructed small structure, tiny home, or scaled development in partnership with Grounded Architecture.

3. Community Knowledge Center

The Goal:
Utilize information gathered during Community Consultation and/or Design-Build Workshops to design a Knowledge Centre in collaboration with Grounded Architecture and Grey & Ivy.
Deliverable Outcomes:
The Knowledge Centre will continue to involve and be shaped by the community throughout the design and construction process with a resulting fully functioning facility.
