This would be our second collaboration with Clan Mothers Healing Village. Set precisely one year after our initial journey, we began to dive into the process all over again with a new group of truly amazing and caring human beings! With a new location in the neighbourhood of Point Douglas and a much larger space to play with, our team would start to introduce the Design+Build process. The overall goal of the project was to introduce new methods, tools, ways of making and expand the creative thinking process so that participants could apply these new skills and teachings into anything they want in life, more specifically, their on-going carpentry training course with Clan Mothers. Storytelling through creative thinking and making is core to our process, so participants would learn the basics of communicating their ideas through brainstorming, collaging, sketching, physical modelling, and 3D modelling, as well as learn how to use tools to enhance and expand those ideas further through augmented and virtual reality, AI and other fun and simple digital fabrication techniques. Each participant would apply these new skills towards a conceptual design project that would be proposed for a community to use as a gathering space.
