Duration: 5 Days

Completion: May 2023

Participants: 11

Age Range: 14-18

Outcomes: Basic of coding and game making

Just a couple of hours north of Winnipeg, our team travelled to Wanipigow First Nation. Located along the southern shores of Lake Winnipeg and surrounded by beautiful shorelines, thick forests, and beddrock, this community shares a deep connection to the history of this land. For 10 days, students would explore the meaning of place and community through a digital perpsective. We wanted to understand how technology can bring us closer to the land. We wanted to find new ways of connecting and understanding our enviornments. Students would propose a video-game design concept that communicated their personalities and interests, while gaining insipration from their communities, and The Land. Following their exploration, students would showcase their work to the enire community!

My game is based on a story I created a few years ago, as well as a real-life location in Winnipeg. Bringing my story to life through a game means a lot to me.
